Oppo’s ColorOS 16 Open Beta is now live in India, and it’s available for select phones. Oppo has kept this beta limited to flagship-grade devices, like the Oppo Find X8, Find X8 Pro, and Reno 14.
With this update, users can get an early taste of Android 16 on their phone, while also enjoying new ColorOS 16 features. Sounds good? Here’s all you need to know about it.
How to apply for ColorOS 16 Open Beta
ColorOS 16 Open Beta won’t arrive as an OTA update. Rather, you’ll have to apply for the update to get it on your device. If you own a Find X8, Find X8 Pro, or Reno 14, you can apply for Open Beta by following the steps below.
Step 1: Open Settings
Step 2: Navigate to System and update, followed by Software update
Step 3: Now, click on the three dots in the top-right corner.
Step 4: Select Beta program.
Step 5: Tap Apply and check all required boxes.

Step 6: Once you complete the process, you’ll have to wait for the approval. After you are approved, you can again head to Settings > System and update > Software update and you should see the ColorOS 16 beta update.
What’s new in ColorOS 16?
ColorOS 16 is based on Android 16, and it’s expected to bring some cool new features and changes. These include lock screen customisations and support for the Flux theme. The home screen will also be customisable with resizable icons and expandable widgets.
The UI will be filled with AI features throughout, including AI tools in Photos and other first-party apps. Other than this, expect smoother animations and an improved multitasking experience. Oppo is expected to use a Liquid Glass-inspired design, making the UI look fresh and aesthetic.
