Here’s why you should try the Oceanic+ app for Apple Watch Ultra on your next beach vacation

Are you a hydrophile? You need to take a look at this

Here’s why you should try the Oceanic+ app for Apple Watch Ultra on your next beach vacation

If you’re someone whose idea of a vacation is roughing it outdoors, particularly swimming, Apple has an app on its Watch Ultra which might be of interest to you. The app, exclusive to the Watch Ultra, is called Oceanic+. Read on to find out why it may be just the thing you need, if you’re someone who likes to spend their time in the water.

Oceanic+ app: What it brings to the table

The Oceanic+ app essentially acts as a personalised dive computer on your wrists, whether you choose to go snorkeling in Bora Bora or scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef. Popped over to the club on a Sunday morning for a quick swim? You can use the Oceanic+ app there too.

The app can function at depths up to 40 metres or 130 feet. It offers dive data such as current depth, time since the dive began, the temperature of the water, time to reach the surface, the gas mix choice one has selected, and the no-decompression duration. If you happen to be a seasoned diver, you probably already know that the no-compression duration refers to the amount of time one can stay stationary at a given depth in the water.

That’s not all, though. It also has a variety of watch-face complications, allowing one to choose what data they’d like to see at any given point in time, colour-coded warnings, and even GPS coordinates of wherever you’ve been.

One can also plan dives on the app. Depending on the metrics you feed in, such as the desired depth, dive time, and so on, the app can provide tidal and weather forecasts for up to three days, and even with live data on visibility in the area, as well as water temperature.

How to use the Oceanic+ app

To use the app, all you have to do is download it from the App Store on your Watch Ultra or iPhone and create an account. Next, go to your Watch’s settings app, and turn on the auto-launch feature. Now, you’re all set. All you need to do is plan your dive on it, and it will auto-launch the second your Watch Ultra comes into contact with water.

High-end Swiss or Japanese dive watches are certainly beautiful to look at, but we doubt if they can do the same things for you, that the Watch Ultra can do with the Oceanic+ app.

Why you should consider investing in an Apple Watch Ultra

Now, while we have extensively spoken about the app, it’s only fair that we also give some attention to the Apple Watch Ultra itself. Apple’s extreme watch features a 49mm aerospace-grade titanium case, which is rust and corrosion-resistant. Oh and, though the app can function only up to 40 metres, the watch itself has a 100-metre water resistance rating.

Amongst other features, it has a 36-hour-long battery life, GPS capabilities, as well as impact detection capabilities. Anytime it detects a crash or fall, it automatically alerts the authorities and also attracts attention via in-built sirens.

The Apple Watch Ultra then, coupled with the Oceanic+ app, makes for an appealing proposition when exploring the depths, or the great outdoors alike.
