How to cast YouTube from a laptop onto a TV

As powerful and productive as our laptops are, we sometimes simply want to watch the content on a bigger screen. Thankfully this is easier than ever before since our TVs have become smarter, and are no longer just a screen to display content. This opens up a whole new avenue of cross-platform compatibility and functionality. Take for instance the ease with which you can now cast your favourite YouTube videos from your laptop onto a smart tv.

How to cast YouTube from a laptop

1. Connect both your smart TV and your laptop to the same Wi-Fi network.

2. Make sure that your laptop, as well as the smart TV, supports the Chromecast function. t

3. Now, open YouTube on a browser and play any video that you want to cast on your TV.

4. On the bottom right side of the video player, you will see a ‘Cast’ icon. It is basically a rectangular box with a few slanted lines at one corner.

5. Click on it, this will show you all the available devices connected to the same Wi-Fi network that supports this function

6. From that, simply click on your TV’s name and in a few seconds, it will start casting the video which was playing on your laptop.

7. You can pause, play, and control other things as well.

How to stop Casting?

This is simple. You go back to the same Cast icon and click on it. You can either pause it or you can select the Stop Casting option according to your choice as well

There are other ways to cast not just YouTube but the entire laptop screen regardless of the apps. You may do a wired connection as well as wireless to do so. Since these two devices run on two different platforms, there are times when cross-platform integration is not smooth, and it doesn’t work. But by connecting your laptop to your smart TV by various methods you cannot just cast YouTube but all sorts of content onto your TV.
