The Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S25 series were unveiled in January, but before that, Samsung had consistently launched its Galaxy S flagships in February for several years. Now, a new report from South Korean publication MoneyToday indicates that the upcoming Galaxy S26 series will return to a February launch window.
Samsung Galaxy S26 series launch date (rumoured)
According to the report, Samsung is expected to host an AI-focused Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event on February 25, 2026, in San Francisco, a city renowned for its advancements in artificial intelligence. This will mark the company’s first Galaxy S-series launch in the city since introducing the Galaxy S23 lineup in 2023.
The report suggests that industry analysts attribute the delayed arrival of the Galaxy S26 series to internal product lineup adjustments. Early reports had claimed that Samsung was planning to introduce the Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Edge as replacements for the base S26 and S26 Plus models, respectively.
However, due to the underwhelming performance of the S25 Edge, Samsung has reportedly decided to retain its familiar three-model lineup consisting of the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra. A recent leak also indicates that Samsung has not cancelled the S26 Edge entirely; instead, it may still debut later with a slimmer and more refined design.
Exynos 2600 may power the entire Galaxy S26 series
The Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus are expected to feature Samsung’s self-developed Exynos 2600 chipset in markets outside the US, Canada, and China. The chip reportedly houses a 10-core CPU paired with AMD’s RDNA-based Xclipse 960 GPU and is tipped to become the world’s first smartphone processor built on a 2nm process.

Meanwhile, the US, Canada, and China are expected to receive the S26 and S26 Plus models powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chip. It remains to be seen whether the Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 across all regions or if Samsung will continue its dual-chip strategy based on market segmentation.
