Samsung appears to be making meaningful progress with its upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8, particularly when it comes to display refinement. A new report suggests the foldable screen crease could be reduced considerably compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, hinting at a more seamless viewing experience.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold’s display showcased at CES 2026
According to South Korean publication Dealsite, Samsung Display showcased a near crease-free foldable OLED panel at CES 2026, which is widely expected to be used in Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy Z Fold series, likely including the Galaxy Z Fold 8, which is expected to break cover in July.
The new panel is said to reduce crease depth by around 20 percent compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, achieved through a combination of structural optimisations. Industry sources believe Samsung Display may have added an extra layer of ultra-thin glass under the panel and applied laser drilling to the backplate to better distribute stress during folding.
These changes could significantly minimise visible creasing on the Galaxy Z Fold 8’s inner display, bringing it closer to a truly crease-free foldable experience.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 specifications (rumoured)
Since the rumour mill is more focused on upcoming Samsung phones, such as the Galaxy A37, Galaxy A57, and Galaxy S26 series, there is less information available about the Z Fold 8. Rumours suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will bring back support for the S Pen, which was removed from the Z Fold 7.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is also expected to feature a larger battery, which could be around 5,000mAh in capacity. Its rear camera setup may comprise a 200MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 12MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
The July launch event, which will see the arrival of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8, may also mark the debut of the Galaxy Wide Fold. The latter is said to feature a wide foldable design similar to the upcoming iPhone Fold.
