Xiaomi’s global wing has officially confirmed that it will unveil the Xiaomi 17 series along with new devices, including the Xiaomi Tag, on February 28 ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026. Soon after, Xiaomi India also confirmed that the Xiaomi 17 series will be unveiled in India on the same date. Here’s a look at what to expect from the company’s forthcoming launch event in India.
Xiaomi’s upcoming launch event: What to expect?
The major highlight of Xiaomi’s next launch will be the 17 series, which reportedly includes the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra. It is said that the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max phones, which have secondary rear-facing displays, will not be released in any markets outside China.
The global launch is also expected to see the arrival of a special photography edition called the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition. However, there is no clarity on whether this device will be released in India.
Ahead of the launch, the Xiaomi 17 series’ microsite is now live on Xiaomi India’s website. However, it does not reveal anything significant about the devices’ specifications.
Since the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra have already launched in China a couple of months back, their specifications are already known. Speculation suggests that the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra’s global versions may have smaller batteries compared to their Chinese editions, while the rest of the specifications could remain unchanged.
Last year, Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi Pad 7 in India and other markets, but its Pro version remained exclusive to China. This year, the brand is expected to release both the Xiaomi Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro in most major markets outside China.
Xiaomi recently unveiled the Xiaomi Tag, positioned as an affordable alternative to Apple AirTag 2. The device will be showcased at MWC 2026, but there is no clarity on whether it will be released in India.
